Основным жиром в диете рекомендуется мононенасыщенный (оливковое масло, например), омега-6 и омега-3 жиры должны находится в пропорции, насыщенные жиры (животные) составлять не больше 8% энергии, а транс-жиры не превышать 2 г в день - это встречающиеся естественные транс-жиры в молочных продуктах. Рекомендуется избегать искусственных транс-жиров (маргарины).
